As a primer subject, this course will introduce students to information systems and technology (IS/IT), as well as its uses in daily life both at home and at work.
This course is divided into two parts ie Solid Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
Part 1:Solid Mechanics
This part of the course provides students with the knowledge to determine the strength and stiffness of structures being used. The structures that will be studied in this course are bars, pins, bolts, shafts, and beams. The types of applied loadings are axial loads, torsional loads, and transverse loads. At the end of the course, students should also be able to determine the mechanical properties of the materials with respect to their strength and stiffness.
Part 2 Thermodynamics
This part of the course introduces students to the basic principles of thermodynamics. Thermodynamicsis a basic science that deals with energy. It discusses basic concepts and introduces the various forms of energy and energy transfer as well as properties of pure substances. A general relation for the conservation of energy principle will be developed and applied to closed systems and extended to open systems.

Urban Landscape Design emphasizes the aspects and theories of urban landscape design. It deals with the functions and issues of the urban spaces, their relationship and visual impact in relation to the urban context, private or public spaces, and indoor or outdoor spaces. It requires a creative and intuitive approach, an application of scientific principles together with technical and social knowledge to formulate guidelines for creating urban spaces suitable as places to live, work and play.
In addition, the studio highlights the roles of Place Identity in creating a liveable place for the community particularly in the context of urbanism. Thus, this involves taking economic, social and cultural factors into consideration in creating a conducive, safe and healthy environment for people.
The course focuses on the understanding and application of technical aspects, both feasible and pragmatic. In addition, the course emphasizes research-led design and integrated technology such as Environmental Psychology and Socio-Culture (SBEZ 2642), Site Planning (SBEZ 1813), Heritage Landscape and Conservation (SBEZ 2602) and Resource Planning and Management (SBEZ 2722).
