HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) Course Design blends traditional face-to-face instruction with online learning, giving students the ultimate agency over how they participate. In a HyFlex model, every class session is offered physically on campus alongside at least one online alternative—either synchronous (live stream) or asynchronous (on-demand via an LMS). Unlike standard blended learning where the instructor sets the schedule, HyFlex empowers learners to choose their format week-by-week or even session-by-session. This flexibility builds dynamic resilience, helping students navigate unexpected life disruptions, schedule conflicts, or long commutes without falling behind.
